The Sustainable Tourism Mauritius Awards 2023, organized by the Tourism Authority, acknowledge pioneers in sustainable initiatives. Croisières Australes achieved a Silver Award, while Bel Ombre Nature Reserve, Le Chamarel Restaurant, and Heritage Awali were honored with Bronze accolades.
Sustainable Tourism Mauritius Awards 2022
The Sustainable Tourism Mauritius Awards 2022, an initiative by the Tourism Authority, recognises leaders in sustainable practices. Bel Ombre Nature Reserve secured a Gold Award, Veranda Tamarin won a Silver, and Heritage Le Telfair claimed a Bronze. Also, our Croisières Australes was honored with Silver in the Boat & Pleasure Craft Operator category.
Green Key Certification
Green Key is a prestigious voluntary eco-label which is recognised by GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry. We've met their stringent criteria, covering energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, staff education, and guest experience, to secure this globally recognized certification.
Small Luxury Hotel Considerate Collection
Heritage Le Telfair, a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) for over a decade, has reaffirmed its sustainability commitment by joining the elite 26 hotels in SLH’s Considerate Collection, a new community of actively sustainable luxury hotels.
UNESCO Man & Biosphere
The region of Bel Ombre, which encompasses a transition zone between the core and buffer zones, as well as the surrounding areas, has earned recognition as a Biosphere Reserve under UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere Programme (MAB). This recognition signifies our commitment to sustainable development, with human and economic activities in the region designed to promote sustainability. Joining 738 sites in 134 countries worldwide, the MAB label underscores our global dedication to fostering sustainable practices.
