As part of its Now for Tomorrow programme, Heritage Resorts & Golf is co-funding Mauritius’ first micro-factory dedicated to plastic waste transformation. Built from repurposed shipping containers, the facility expected in Bel Ombre will serve as a decentralised pre-treatment hub for plastic waste.
The micro-factory will:
- • Shred and sort significant volumes of plastic monthly
- • Supply local recyclers with usable material
- • Test a scalable model for similar sites in other regions
- • Support internal capacity-building in waste management
To ensure effective integration, Ollivier Mineur, Waste Management Supervisor at Heritage Resorts & Golf, has attended a three-day Onboard Laboratory training during Plastic Odyssey’s stopover in Mauritius in April 2025. The programme covered applied recycling technologies, prototyping, and operational planning.

The initiative is co-funded by Heritage Resorts & Golf and the ER Group, in partnership with Plastic Odyssey. The project strengthens national recycling capacity and provides a tangible infrastructure for plastic waste solutions in the south of Mauritius.
